SSC Organization Profile: Selection Commission was earlier known as
Service Selection Commission and Subordinate Services Commission and was recommended by the estimate committee
of Parliament for conducting examinations for recruitment to various lower
categories of posts. The current functions of SSC which came into effect from 1st June 1999 is to make recruitment to
Group “B” and Group “C” posts for the various Ministries and Departments of the
Government of India by conducting various written examinations and then taking
personal interviews.
